Magical London Lights

London is a truly magical place to be around Christmas time. So on Tuesday, we took a spontaneous trip down to London to see the Christmas lights.

In all my life, I had never really seen the beauty of London at Christmas time and I was really excited for this new experience!
As soon as we arrived at Kings Cross we took the tube down to Marble Arch (another thing I had never seen before) and walked up to Oxford Street.

We arrived around 3 so it wasn't quite dark enough yet for the lights so we just took a leisurely walk up Oxford Street, peeping at all the sales and festive window displays.

I particularly liked the solar system display in the window of Selfridges. Its one of those things you just cant help but watch, then 10 minutes later you realise your still standing there and the people you're with have been long gone and probably half way up the street. Because that's not what happened to me at all! ;)

Since it still wasn't dark enough, we popped into M&S and went to the Café. I had your average Latte and a mini chocolate fudge cake thing which was mega tasty. It even had little edible stars on top! How festive xD

By the time we had done coffee and mooched around M&S looking at the sales, it was dark and the lights were in their full brightness.
What was a busy street in daylight was transformed into a magical, glittering lane of beauty. I couldn't help but gaze endlessly at all the spectacular decorations. I dunno how I managed not to walk into everybody.

My personal highlight of the evening was stumbling across Carnaby Street....on accident. I follow a lot of other bloggers and I had seen from blog posts or even vlogs on youtube, how spectacular Carnaby is at Christmas and for the past year its been a place I've been dying to go to.
Our friends planned the route for the evening and I didn't want to mess it up as I automatically assumed Carnaby was the other side of London for some reason so I remember thinking to myself, oh well maybe next year.
So it just so happened we turned the corner and I saw the huge pink glittery sign of Carnaby Christmas Party. Lets just say I was a bit over excited and was jumping up and down like OMG CAN WE GO? PLLEEAASSEEE?! like some sort of 5 year old xD but it was defiantly worth embarrassing myself for... it was magnificent!
We had a bit of a nosey in the shops (how could we not of?). We had a peep in the Doc Marten shop, they have a great sale on, although there was none of the ones I wanted in my size. Sad times.
Although I was soon happy again when we popped into Irregular Choice. That shop is truly something else! It looks like a unicorn threw up in there, but in the best possible way!
Everything in there was just beautiful. I particularly loved the unicorn loafers and bunny heels. May have to venture back here soon for prom shoes!
If your a big shoe lover like I am and find yourself near Carnaby Street, you'd be silly not to visit!

I had a great time in London! One of my new years resolutions is to go on more little trips to London. Even though I live so close, there's still much I haven't seen of it and I hope 2016 bring much more adventures to this beautiful city!
What are your new year resolutions for 2016? I would love to here from you in the comments!
